PlayPublik, the festival for the reappropriation of the city as a playground took place this year in Krakow, Poland, on October 3rd, 4th and 5th. Artists and designers from around the world participated in this event showcasing playful forms that allowed the people to try out different characters and personalities, dare to be cheerful and silly in public spaces, remember childhood games, interact with wearable technology, escape from a drone, follow clues and trace narratives, chase other competitors, and overall, have a lot of fun.
Enrique Perez, member of the Gamification Lab, presented two games at PlayPublik: “You are the Hero”, a mash-up of UNO, Guitar Hero and dance; and “Corruption (denounce)”, a board game about behaving corruptly, denouncing the corrupt acts of others to cooperatively progress, and the peculiarity of apparently having to play the game backwards in order to win.
